It’s a Wonderful Life
Adapted as a Staged Radio Play by Tony Palermo
‘No man is a failure who has friends’
Harlequin Theatre will perform this timeless Christmas classic as a 1940s-style radio broadcast before a live studio audience; You!
Simon Jones, Chris Finney, Malcolm Barker and Jacob Taylor, Sue Curran and newcomer Jane Ainley will bring to life all your Wonderful Life favourites from George, Mary Hatch, Clarence, Uncle Billy, Ma Bailey, Mr Martini, Violet Bick, little Zuzu and, of course, the Scrooge-like villain, Mr. Potter as well as a host of Bedford Falls’ (and for a brief, terrible moment, Pottersville) inhabitants. Live sound effects will be created before your very eyes by Foley Artist Adam Wade with the whole shebang broadcast directly to your ears by Radio Sound Engineer Ian David. Direction is by Gordon Hamlin.
Telling of George Bailey, the Bedford Falls Samaritan saved from suicide by a Guardian Angel who shows him all the good he has done, it is a celebration of friendship and neighbourliness.
Set in its own post-war time, expect no less drama and experience the thrill of a live radio broadcast with its music and sound effects produced before your very eyes.
Adapted from the Frank Capra film by radio script writer Tony Palermo, It’s a Wonderful Life is a Christmas staple as popular as our own A Christmas Carol.
A truly unique performance of a truly wonderful story!
