An evening of two one act plays:
Lockdown in Northwich by David Tristram
Directed by Malcolm Barker
Two Wits to Woo by John Kelly
Directed by George Williams
Thursday 1 September 2022 - Saturday 3 September 2022, 7.45pm
We are opening our 2022/2023 season with a pair of complimenting comedies by different playwrights and with different directors
Two Wits to Woo by John Kelly is set in Winsome Manor where Lady Winsome is in financial difficulties and needs to fire long standing servants Joe the gardener and James the chauffeur. However, unbeknown to Lady Winsome, James has been using the estate's Rolls Royce for a taxi business and Joe has been profiting from the garden produce. As the play unfolds, the two desperately attempt to prevent Lady Winsome from discovering their illicit dealings and from selling the Manor. But Lady Winsome is not so naïve.. The director is George Williams and although an experienced director, this is his debut in that role at this theatre but regulars will no doubt remember him most recently from the cast of The Government Inspector and Cat Among the Pigeons.
Lockdown in Northwich by David Tristram is a new addition to the popular Little Grimley series of plays where the writer allows adaption of the title. Regulars will have already seen the hapless committee of the Northwich Amateur Dramatic Society who brought disaster to both Last Tango and Last Panto, so now renamed they seek to help the NHS with another new play written by Chairman Gordon. But based on their previous efforts, will the NHS actually end up worse off? A perfect fun-filled romp to kickstart the new season. The director is again Malcolm Barker, a regular at Harlequins with most recently Perfect Wedding and The Government Inspector.
