The Harlequin Players Club first formed in Northwich in 1946, as part of the local Arts and Music Society. Originally there were 32 members and there was a pillar in the centre of the stage for the first play that the group performed.

In 1984, the group moved into the current premises on Queen Street, The Harlequin Theatre, which has been the groups permanent base ever since. More about the history of the Harlequins can be read HERE.

The Harlequin Theatre is a black box theatre, seating 96 audience members per performance. The Harlequins has a reputation as one of Cheshire’s leading amateur theatre and has presented some of Cheshire’s most memorable award-winning theatrical experiences.

Each season (September through to June), we perform six productions as part of the main season and one youth theatre production. We have recently introduced the Harlequin Studio productions, which will take place in the season , they will be performed for two nights, have smaller casts and a basic set.

In September 2013, the youth section was launched and has thrived ever since with our youngsters performing to sell out audiences and winning a number of awards.

We are always looking to expand our membership and we rely on volunteers to keep the groups going. If you’d like more information on how to join us, click HERE.
